All right, so I'm unemployed and I've never been busier. I took Becky to get four wisdom teeth pulled Thursday... at 0730 in the morning. That's just too early, well, for anything. But that's neither here nor there. That wasn't too bad. And so today the puppster is getting her insides ripped out in the form of an outpatient procedure known as "spaying." For this to go as smoothly as it needs to I had to go to the vet (I mean really, I had to drive a whole TWO MINUTES to the friggin vet's office!) to get a record of her medical history. It was then that I noticed a posting on the wall beside the receptionist that there are some kittens that need
adopting. Me being the humane, kind-hearted individual that I am I tried to get a hold of these people in an effort to take said kitty for a test drive, as it were. something like a week later (today) I get a hold of the girl who happens to work at the vets office. Since she lives a whopping 5 minutes away, she went home on her lunch break and got the
kitty. Becky and I fell in love with her (the kitten, not the receptionist) and took her home. The new feline's name (for now, at any rate) is Leia, since I might just go back and get her brother...
Becky's wisdom teeth pulling went surprisingly well: she slept all day yesterday and has only taken ibuprofen today. I didn't realize how horrible the pits that remain after the pulling really are. So I get to improvise as far as my diet, since she's eating soup, mashed potatoes and applesauce. I'm thinking chicken sausage, grilled cheese, liver pate and sardines (I had baked beans and a fried egg for lunch: tasty).
Hello hello. The job searching isn't going too well (Kays decided to no t hire me and I've only gotten one positive response to my mass emailing of resumes, an even that seems to have fizzled). But I did have a fun and interesting evening at the movies last night: went to see War, it was super cool and excellent with some surprising twists and turns towards the end.
Attached to this marvelous movie were some very tasty trailers:
- 30 Days of Night (imdb page) - a fun filled romp through an arctic wasteland where its dark for a month with the ever talented Josh Hartnett (Black Dahlia, Lucky Number Slevin (imdb site), Sin City (imdb site), 40 Days and 40 Nights, etc.). And oh yeah, the opposition is going to be some REALLY nasty vampires (not nearly as charming, drama-ridden, and sexy as Ann Rice's).
- Shoot 'Em Up (imdb site) seems to be a hard-core action-fest featuring everyone's new favorite brit Clive Owen (Children of Men (imdb site), Inside Man (imdb site), Sin City (imdb site), Closer (imdb site), King Arthur, Hostage, The Bourne Identity (imdb site), etc.). Paul Giamatti plays a hitman trying to kill some chick... this is sure to be an interesting experience.
- When I realized what I was watching I was hardly able to contain my excitement: they have made a movie (imdb site) out of the Hitman series of video games (for the PC by Eidos Interactive)! This marvelous example of marvelosity is to be featuring Timothy Olyphant (Live Free or Die Hard (imdb site), Go, A Life Less Ordinary, etc.) in the lead role, rockin' the black suit, white shirt, red tie, leather gloves and the baldness. Might I urge everyone to not only view but also to listen to the trailer; an amazing rendition of a very familiar track highlights the action on the screen.
- And The Dark Knight. Although Tom Cruise apparently did not let Angel Pooh (aka Katie Holmes) reprise her role as Rachel Dawes (the female lead) in this amazing new franchise, it still seems as though it will prove to be an amazing film. I think everyone is probably wondering the same thing that I am wondering, which is what will Heath Ledger's Joker look like... I have done all the legwork for you. Now, mind you, since the official site is useless, I had to look for these at other sources and hence cannot vouch for their authenticity but here they are: imdb photo, rotten tomatoes dot com, first showing dot net, and finally coming soon dot net. I'm sure you concur that either way (if this is in fact the make-up that's to appear in the movie or if this is all bull shit), The Dark Knight will be an interesting movie. And oh yea, the official site is not working but Harvey Dent for District Attorney site is. Now, the Joker's retort to Dents's site is really interesting: for this you have to follow my directions. Go to http://ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com/. Doesn't work... or does it? With the page up, click on the text, go to Edit and Select All. Neat, huh? That's not all; you need to copy and paste all that into Word, hit CTRL+F, click the Replace tab, for the Find What prompt, type "ha" and leave the Replace With prompt blank, and hit the Replace All button. You may need to get rid of the spaces. Snazzy, eh? And the trailer is here.
It looks as though there is really going to be a sequel to Alien vs Predator (2004). I saw a trailer, but I don't know that its authentic so I won't even link to it. I will however give you this: and I think its called AvP - Requiem and this may or may not be the real official site.
The Chicken is making his online debut at sandor7.com. This is temporary until thechickenonline.com gets registered and up and running. Further, the Szivák-Walker family tree is under way as well.
That's really all I have... ciao.
Well. I'm unemployed again. although I have an interview at a staffing agency monday and am in the middle of interviews with Kay jewler in the mall. at any rate, I had to share this (its too funny):

I finished my programming final, finally. Not sure if it'll run as a real program, but it looks impressive. When all is said and done, I turned in something like 10 pages... won't know the results for about a week. Before this class is through I still have one more (albeit, a much smaller) project due tonight. I got to put tuition and books for my next class on a card since financial aid ran out. This upcoming class ought to be a lot less difficult since its focus is graphics editing and the use of Macromedia Fireworks, two things I have some experience with (more then programming, at any rate). I might take this time to work on my portfolio or maybe I'll write.
Work sucks; I'm more and more happy with each passing hour that I will not be here much longer. One drawback of this life-changing decision is the uncertainty about how we're going to pay bills in the meantime. I'll be lining up an interview at Andy's Kay Jewelers... not too sure how well I'll do as a jewelry salesman, but since a corporate headhunter, monster.com, careerbuilder.com and charlestonjobnetwork.com aren't working so well at finding me a web design job, I may need to try it for a spell.
I gave my two weeks notice at Food Lion. I'm happy about it, Becky's happy about it. I mean, some people have been telling me its something I have to do for years now, but it took me this long to really get ready to leave. Now all I have to do is find another job. Monster dot com isn't being very helpful. Syfrett gave me someone's number that he works with that finds jobs for people, Andy's trying to get me an interview to sell jewlery (perks: learn to talk to people, drawbacks: have to wear a suit and shave everyday), Jason said he'll look into getting me an hourly data entry postion at DNR. In the meanwhile, I have a big programming final due Tuesday that I'm not really confortable with.
I have completed a project I have been working on for something like a month and a half. Jason had initially asked me to take a look at a site his colleague had created. I was simply appalled by just how awful it really was and thus took it upon myself to make it less bad. This project has been taking up all of my "spare" time for as long as I can remember. But Jason was so appreciative of my work and time that he bought me a snazzy mount for my snazzy HDTV. I posted the site to my portfolio and have linked to it here for your convenience: South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Office of Fisheries Management Cooperative Research Program [and people wonder why government has so many abbreviations]. I learned a lot from this experience: set deadlines for myself and for the client, make arrangements to only be accountable to one person, and I was able to do a lot of work with graphics, especially optimization. When I turned over the "final" hard copy, I made a point of asking to have any input or suggestions the DNR webmaster might make relayed to me; it would be cool to hear what a professional web designer has to say about my work :o)
Mad birthday props go out to the twins (first and foremost) followed closely by Jack and Andrea (Emily, 8lbs 3oz, 19.5in) and Jason and Holly (Ellie, 8lbs 13oz, 21.5in).
I just realized that I have been too pre-occupied to even put up pictures of my honeymoon. I'm so not up to date its past "not even funny" and have securely placed myself in "tragicly slack" category. But its ok since Becky is on top of it: check out the fantasticness that is Ireland here.
Seattle rocked... more on that later.
pick one: [send email containing row and column, top to bottom and left to right... no time to make a form] [variables to consider are quality, speed and static]
www.pandora.com is a marvelous place for music...
These are so funny, I about hit the floor... I mean, who calls the Bible "Jesus Fanfic?"
Who Is Your Savior? and Who Is Your Savior? (Regeneration Remix)
That haunts dismembered constellations,
A faintly glimmering radio station.
While Frank Sinatra sings Stormy Weather,
The flies and spiders get along together,
Cobwebs fall on an old skipping record.
Beyond the suns that guard this roof,
Beyond your flowers of flaming truths,
Beyond your latest ad campaigns,
An old man sits collecting stamps
In a room all filled with Chinese lamps.
He saves what others throw away.
He says that he'll be rich some day.
We know of an ancient radiation
That haunts dismembered constellations,
A faintly glimmering radio station.
We know of an ancient radiation
That haunts dismembered constellations,
A faintly glimmering radio station.
While Frank Sinatra sings Stormy Weather,
The flies and spiders get along together,
Cobwebs fall on an old skipping record.
Using your wildest imagination, describe what retailing will look like in the year 2050.
to which I replied:
I could see it going one of two ways. First, we will live in a Utopian society (a la H. G. Wells' "Time Machine"). We will no longer be burdened with multi story shopping centers, strip malls or day after Thanksgiving/Christmas shopper traffic. All of our shopping needs will be handled with the 2050 equivalent of "online." Commercials and new product awareness campaigns will be transmitted directly to the brains of registered "shoppers" (you would sign up for these like you sign up for blogs or stock updates). Texts and multimedia ads will be sent out by the thousands to the cell phones of the unfortunate few who haven't yet gotten the mandatory sensory augmentation packages (see above). Everyone's shopping habits will be logged and recorded, to be analyzed and studied to calculate spending habits as well as automatically classifying purchases into personalized product categories.
The alternative (as I see it) is that modern science will realize (almost too late) that the digital age is going to cause the downfall of the human race (air wave pollution with cell phones, wi-fi, satellite internet/TV causing sterility, cancer, Alzheimer's, autism blah blah blah). The remaining populations of the world will relapse to a feudal dark age, where industrialization is a thing to look forward to. Retailing will be weekly open air markets and a hardware store in every county.
Ireland was also super-sweet. Feast your eyes on our late honeymoon. [later]

The trip to Hungary was an event-filled explosion of events; changing gears between touristy and bureaucratic outings many times a day, but I have pictures … do I ever have pictures. So, come tour with me, shall we?
Really knocks the sense of morality into you, ya know? I mean, what have I to show for my nearly thirty years of existence? If I went today, what would I leave behind, short of a closet full of old movie poster, a shelf full of movies and an unpaid TV? And what's worse is that all of my possessions, taken a lifetime to accumulate, will be gone through in a weekend and handed out or trashed. A lifetime of memories, and all that would linger on are the moments my time crossed paths with another's, and my stupid blog (until the server guy doesn't get paid, then even this will be gone).
The whole family is flying out for the funeral, courtesy of dad. At least we're able to do that this time (we didn't have enough money for even one person to go home for my grandfather's funeral).
bought some new movies… well, new for me but used for Blockbuster. Much fun. not sure what else to write, but that I'm off to a slack start to this quarter. and (oh yeah) I purchased a super-sweet 40" LCD HDTV Samsung (LN-S4041D).
I found a nice site online that I ordered some business cards through (my birthday gift to myself instead of the SVT suspension, on account of the regime fees just jumped a whole lot… Charleston ROX). I reckon I could hand some out, may-haps build my portfolio up. I'll start by hookin somethin up for Mom since she's been needin' a site for a while.
Super sweet. another gay out. but tis ok since at least one of my brothers is coming (the other has to work) and I Shot The Sherif is playing only to be followed by I Can't Get No Satisfaction. Also furthermore, I am to be purchasing a NICE LCD TV of ginormous proportions. I also got a card and candy from a Neekow Walkaw. Nicole got me a gift certifiacte from Best Buy (only the greatest store ever, just ask jason). I have only consumed a twelve pack of the glorious draft that is Guiness and I am having to work upon the morrow. Tis quite sad that the first shift of the party has departed by 2230. is this what I have to look 4ward 2 where a nite of partying lasts until the wee hours of 10? but either way: as I write this, I shall sober up and be ready for the next shift.
yay. much fun even though I am not Born In The USA (the current track).
I need another beer.
A show called Drive will be starting on Fox April 15 and 16. Featuring Nathan Fillion from Firefly/Serenity, the show will follow a bunch of drivers in a high-stakes underground race.
Da Bears lost the superbowl... you know, I don't even want to talk about it [feels dejected and let-down].
My belove'd web site has move'd to sandor7.com. I am having emails too. Rite now i think they are dvd_burner@sandor7.com and I forget the other one rite now.
It really was pretty sweet (even though it took most of my morning): I got a gig for 1.5$ a month ($18 bux for the year) plus 9 for the domain name. I rock.
I chikined out on getting my septim done again the other day, but i made it up to myself by buying two video games (I unsubscribed from SWG), 3 movies and a web site. so i find myself playing with Dreamweaver 8 instead of working on school-work, but it is my blog after all... that word sounds so dirty: i prefer online-journal.
I now have the strangest desire to do some narrative writtin'... it might be the 5 beers i have had in the last 3 hours and it probably won't work out too well but why not, right? I'll let you know how it turns out.
Right now I have to update my onld site and tell everyone where to go (it's the new address, not hell).
good night, may you all enjoy the beautiful trance as provided by windows media player.
I think all of my christmas shopping is finished, but I'm not sure: I think I still have to buy myself something nice
Oh shit Yeah! I almost forgot: Finished my first semester back at school. The results of my hard work and hours of sacrafice is a 3.55 GPA (all that means is that I made all As and Bs, which ain't too shabby) so I'm out of time: install's done
"Don't cus boy, now watch yo mouth!"
"I didn't cus: I said hoe!"
"Riley, don't think because I'm drivin I can't come back there!"
On another note, I have to wait until February 7th for my beloved Lost to return... whatever shall I do? (rhetorical question: of course I'm gonna watch Firefly again. he He HE)
I bought a new hat, a fur felt fedora at that. And I again feel not naked when out in public, although I really should rethink my overall fashion whatever occasionally, since a fedora doesn't really compliment jeans too well, but its my mojo and I do it b/c I can pull it off.Check out the new movie coming out that's based on another one of Frank Miller's comic books: its called 300 the song under the trailer is intense, but not as intense as if it was live (after some research, I have learned the track is called Just Like You Imagined by Nine Inch Nails whom I was able to watch this summer go me and my not-posting-important-shit self)
So on that note I wish you a good morning as I leave to retire to bed good night
Tonight's episode of Lost was a step up from the first two of this season. Locke was more of his usual self and the
episode ended with the old fashioned and trademarked Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?! ending. I now recall why I wait for shows to come out on DVD before commiting to them: because having to wait a week for the next episode is very frustrating.
I feel that it's about time to put some wedding pics up... pics of any kind since I am way overdue (hence the above monstrosity, originally penned for the myspace, but I liked it well enough to duplicate it); but its just such a big hassle what with school, work, drinkin' (less then before), SWG, movies, socializin', sleepin'.
Peace out from your humble student of a narrator.
:o)
I am looking forward to this adventure that is going back to school; it's been six years in the making, and many people have suggested it before. (You Were Right, I Was Wrong) I am finally ready to take this step and I know it will help me in the long run.
So much has happened in the last few months: I got married in May. It was a beautiful ceremony, a beautiful site (Charlestown Landing, West Ashley) and a very beautiful bride. All of our nearest and dearest were in attendance, much of Becky's family drove down to to watch us tie the knot.
We went up to North Carolina for a mini honeymoon, stayed in a SWEET cabin in the woods and on a mountain (little Focus trying to pull itself up a very steep, very gravley incline), also hung out at Biltmore for a day.
I've applied and been accepted to Baker College Online; I'm finally going back to school. I will be working towards a second bachelor's (we don't go half-steppin) only this one I may even be able to use (Web Development).
The Ole Draller got hitched... who would-a thunk it, go fig and the old chap's going to be a daddy: I guess the "not bein' a daddy's still cool" club is no longer cool. But at any rate, my best wishes go out to them as they embark on their new life together: Halla atcha boy!
Aside from the above funness, I've been hooked on Star Wars Galaxies, a much fun, much addictive MMORPG [I think i got that right] to the detrament of many other things (DJing, updating web page, eating). But at any rate, I will get some pix up when I have time to sort through them, but until then, SWG is calling my name.
I also took some time to post Nicole's Pirates Of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest review, wrote a Clerks II review and posted a few more song links.
may many four leaf covers find their way to you...
and for the love of god: wear green so we needed do this sophmoric, grade-school pinching thing
Greetings to one and all. In grand Hungarian tradition your humble narrator got himself in a lot deeper than he ever thought possible: OK, so. I'm all stoked 'cuz I have a gig where I can play out (my first in a year). I'm doin' my thing, as is customary for opening DJs to do dot dot dot, the evening progresses and I realize this is an actual party, not a pre-party as I was lead to believe. It took yours truely the half the night to realize I was opening for Jackal & Hyde! Can you say :"WOE"? I know I can, and I did, quite a few times.

On a whole nother front: there's more babies bein' born into this world. As we speak, a friend-a-mine and her "baby daddy" are trying to coerse a youngin into this world (although, by the sound of it, he's not all about it). Ah yes, a St. Pattie's day baby if that aint a receipe, reciepe, recipee [dam it, this friggin thing doesn't have a friggin spell check] for alcoholism I don't know what is. I'm considerin' gettin' l'il baby Griffin a bottle of Jameson for when he gets older (or when his parents need it).
I have a hanckerin' to type s'more, so here's what I have:
Props and Mad Props:
Andy: for not breaking in the door of the Reef when he discovered his gig had been cancelled (via the "the door is locked" method of communication)
N8: for letting participate in what is sure to later be known as the social event of the season... Yo, you kick ass for letting me try to kick ass
Missy: for throwing one dope-ass, hard-core, raise-the-ma-fukin' roof party (you should do this more often)
Jackal & Hyde: for tearin' it up in charleston once again (and for signing my what's it called)
Nicole (and her plus one, Shar): for hangin' out, even if it means having to sit through hours of Techno's version of Death Metal
Mihály: I still luvs u, man
Anastasia and Joey: cuz after nine months they still have the energy to hang around for labor (don't forget your Lamaz training)
And last but not least my baby and soon to be missis: Becky I love you
I got my hard drive back, so now begins the long and arduous task of getting everything the way I want it. But, oh well... my 19 inch LCD monitor is awesome, I just wish I could get the bars at the top and bottom and call it Anamorphic Widescreen.
Well, at any rate: I gots to go... things need doin', cable needs watchin'.
I finally have internet. Unfortunately, my beloved Anneli/hard-drive is out for repairs and may not recover from the 2+ gigs of viruses she has collected [let that be a lesson to all y'all party people out there: this is a real threat, so be weary of who you hang out with]. The reason I bring that up is because I had countless formating and content updates saved and now they are most likely
lost [hope for the best, expect the worst kind of thing]. First things first: clean out cluttered e-mail box, shop for rpg books and vinyl, then update web site... done and done. Although I haven't purchased anything yet, I am shopping... and what a grand feeling it is too: I no longer feel blind, and out of touch with the world,
I can now shop in my underwear like the rest of the capitalist world. Its the little things that make life cool.Having just recently gotten paid, I re-visited Barnes and Noble in order to pick up the Serenity RolePlaying Game (based on the movie): it looks
different and a little confusing (from what I've seen of it) but it also seems as though it could be something I could get used to.Thanksgiving happened. It was an... interesting four days, a period of time when I felt I had no knowledge of nor say in what was going on. The hilarity pictured above was after numerous attempts to take a group picture: I figured, why waste my photogenic side on pictures that (till that piont) had one thing or another wrong with them.
The new face of dance-music in West Ashley...
I got my new setup, including a cartridge upgrade (without the nifty case);
spent the better part of two hours cleaning the permanent marker off the
turntables, but they look shiny and new and run smoother than any decks I've
played on. Promptly marked the things with my stencil.cmp/teaser.html?id=teaser&type=windows&speed=500000
